Colorado DUI Arrests Increase Over St. Patrick’s Day Weekend

Despite attempts by Colorado law enforcement officials to dissuade drunk drivers from taking to the road over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend and the Colorado Department of Transportation’s (CDOT) Heat Is On campaign to encourage sober drivers to get behind the wheel instead, the number of DUI arrests in the Rocky Mountain State rose in 2013. Boulder Police Officers resign after DUI arrest

On February 22, news outlets across the state reported that two Boulder police officers, both of whom had been charged with DUI infractions, had resigned from the department. The officers, a 46-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man, were arrested in December and November of 2012, respectively. Daily Camera indicated that an internal investigation into the alcohol-related traffic crimes recommended that both suspects, who had a combined 20 years of experience in the field, be terminated. Felony DUI Law coming to Colorado

Introduced in the state’s House of Representatives on February 1 and amended to appropriations with bipartisan support on February 21, House Bill 13-1214 could mean big changes in Colorado DUI law are on the way.
