SALT LAKE CITY — 25 Utah law enforcement agencies will add overtime shifts to crack down on impaired driving on Super Bowl Sunday.
“Whether or not the game goes into overtime, Utah’s law enforcement officers will be working DUI overtime shifts to deter, detect and stop impaired drivers. Whatever your plans for watching the Super Bowl are if they include drinking, make sure they don’t include driving,” a news release from the Utah Department of Public Safety says.
Law enforcement officers will work a combined total of more than 75 overtime shifts “to deter, detect and stop impaired drivers.”
According to DPS, an average of 40 people have been arrested for driving under the influence in Utah each Super Bowl Sunday over the last five years.
