Boca Raton Physician Jailed On DUI Charge

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — Boca Raton Physician Michael Baskin, MD, was jailed early Friday morning on a DUI charge.

According to a police report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, Dr. Baskin sped by an officer sitting in his car in the 800 block of South Federal Highway just after midnight. Baskin, according to the police report, flew by the officer at 60 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone. Baskin was driving a 2017 Mercedes Benz S63…

…Baskin was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 3:55 a.m. Friday. He was released on his own recognizance at 9:05 a.m. Baskin is a physician with “Personalized Orthopedics of the Palm Beaches and, according to his bio, serviced as “head of the international spine and pain program” at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. He lives in Boca Raton.

The arrest affidavit narrative reveals that the arresting officer knows just what he’ll need to convict. There are many problems with these field sobriety exercises. The science behind them is flawed, and they are designed to be very difficult — even for someone who is sober. In fact, police are taught that even sober people may have difficulty with these tests.
