Jupiter police: Driver in fatal DUI crash told officers she’d just killed someone

JUPITER — Moments after a crash Saturday night in Jupiter left a bicyclist dead, a motorist told police she’d just killed someone, she shouldn’t have been driving and she was going to jail, according to a police report.

Janelle Nutting, 32, of Riviera Beach is charged with DUI manslaughter in the death of Tyler W. Thomas, 31, of Juno Beach. She is free on $50,000 bond.

Steven Bell, Nutting’s attorney, said Monday she’d pleaded not guilty and, because of “the infancy of the case,” he did not want to comment except to say, “In any of these cases, these are tragic events for both sides.”

Thomas’ Facebook page said he worked in construction and food services and said he was single but mentioned a girlfriend.
