The driver was hospitalized after the 4:16 a.m. crash; Obinna Anyanwu had played in a high school championship basketball game the previous night
California Highway Patrol officers arrested a Cathedral Catholic High basketball player on Sunday after he crashed his car into a freeway median, got out of his car and then was hit by two vehicles on state Route 163.
Obinna Kelvin Anyanwu, 18, was driving a Nissan Altima south on SR-163 just south of Balboa Avenue around 4:16 a.m. when he lost control of his car and collided with the center median wall, said CHP Officer Salvador Castro.
After slamming into the wall, the teen got out of his car and was struck by two other vehicles.
