Charleston man charged with felony DUI after fatal crash in McClellanville

Authorities say a man was driving under the influence early Saturday when he lost control of a vehicle and crashed in McClellanville, fatally injuring his passenger.

Mark Alexander Zulawski, 21, of Nassau Street in Charleston, is charged with felony DUI resulting in death and having an open container of alcohol.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has not yet identified the passenger who died in the hospital following the wreck at U.S. Highway 17 and Two Pines Road.

Deputies, firefighters, EMS and a Meducare helicopter were called to the single-vehicle crash shortly before 2 a.m.
