TEMPE, AZ – The Tempe Police Department says Mesa Councilman Ryan Winkle was arrested for suspicion of DUI early Sunday morning.
Police say Winkle was spotted near Mill Avenue and Baseline Road weaving in the roadway by an officer before being pulled over.
According to the police report, Winkle was also seen stopping abruptly at a red light.
Winkle exhibited signs and symptoms consistent with impairment during the traffic stop, according to police.
Blood samples were submitted as part of the East Valley DUI Task Force at their command post nearby and results have not been made available yet.
Winkle was given a criminal citation for DUI, and released at the scene.
