Arrested for DUI, Browns’ Alvin Bailey told police he was drinking on the team plane

An NFL player getting nabbed for DUI is hardly newsworthy these days, and so normally we wouldn’t be writing about how Cleveland Browns starting right guard Alvin Bailey was arrested for that very charge early Monday morning. What’s so different about Bailey’s arrest is that he told the arresting officers in North Royalton, Ohio, a Cleveland suburb, that he had been drinking on the team plane as the Browns flew back from Sunday’s game in Miami.

In 2007, the NFL banned alcohol from all team activities, including flights to and from games. Bailey’s admission to police that he had consumed several whiskeys on the team plane home from Miami would be a violation of of league and team rules.
