The Report to the Nation from Mothers Against Drunk Driving shows that Montana has done little to reduce drunk driving since 2003.
“Montana leads the nation in deaths-per-capita, and deaths-per-vehicle-mile-traveled for DUI offenses. We are not in very good shape. We have some things we can do,” said former Praire County Attorney Erin Inman.
The Montana Department of Transportation reports that alcohol was the highest contributing factor to over 1,800 accidents in 2011 with 71 of those being fatalities. State representatives believe that alcohol is literally in our blood.
